JoJo The Dolphin

JoJo, an Atlantic Bottlenose dolphin, has been living and playing in the shallow waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands since 1980.  He is one of the few dolphins around the world who voluntarily interacts with human and other animals in his own natural habitat.

One of  JoJo's favorite playmates was a golden labrador retriever named Toffee.  Islanders had seen them spend endless hours playing together.  Toffee has recently passed away.

JoJo's other favorite playmate is his warden Dean Bernal.  Dean, a naturalist, came across three young dolphins during a swim in Turks and Caicos.  One of these dolphins - who Dean called JoJo - started to follow him on his daily swims and soon became Dean’s best friend.

Thanks to Dean, in 1989, JoJo was declared a National Treasure of the Turks & Caicos Islands and Dean was appointed JoJo's official warden.  Dean is now actively involved around the world in securing the long-term care and protection of other endangered lone sociable dolphins.

Sounds like a fairy tale, but it's a true story!
This story warms my heart; I hope it warms yours too.
