Our Little Ducklings -- LUCKY the Duckling

Bringing Them Home

A few weeks ago, Bob brought home four little Muscovy ducklings.  One of these ducklings (the one with the brown "mohawk" on the far side of the box resting his/her pink beak on the yellow duckling), was hatched under a heat lamp because his/her mother went missing.  S/he is one of three eggs that were rescued by our friend Gail; but s/he was the only one that hatched.  To keep Lucky company, Gail bought three other Muscovy ducklings.  Gail thought we'd like to have them on the farm and that our farm pond would be a great environment for them to live in.  With an island in the middle, our pond is an ideal place for ducks to hide from most predators.  Gail named the duckling she hatched "Lucky" because s/he lucky to have hatched and now s/he is lucky to have a chance to live in a big and safe pond.

  1. I think they are all certainly "lucky ducks" to live in such beautiful surroundings! Please share photos when you send them off to live in the big pond!
