Sunlit Sunday -- Rainbow in the House

Hello all,
This is my first time joining Sunlit Sunday.  Thank you Susan (from Southern Fascinations) for introducing Sunlit Sunday to me.  It's a wonderful idea with lots of great blogs.  You might enjoy visiting them.

Rainbow in my house today

The sun shined brilliantly through our breakfast room window this morning.  Even though it is still very cold in Virginia, the rainbow that was brought into our breakfast room instantly warmed it up.

I use this beautiful crystal bowl to capture the sun ray to project a rainbow onto our curtain and cabinet.  It doesn't always work well, but it did beautifully this morning.

I hope this rainbow helps brighten up your cold winter day.
Have a nice week.

  1. Hello, Christa, and welcome to Sunlit Sunday. I'm glad that you found your way here through Susan.

Your crystal bowl has created a wonderful rainbow. I like the idea that you have a habit of seeing whether you can get the array of colours on any given day; what a nice way of finding a bit of beauty in your home (pretty curtains, by the way).

Thank you for joining in this week!

    1. Thank you, I loved that fabric the moment I saw it. It suits our breakfast room very well. It's always spring time in our breakfast room, especially when the sun comes in as brightly as it did today.

  3. Christa.. So pretty! Glad you decided to join in. The rainbow made me smile and remember I had a prism in my kitchen window for years. Wondering where it got off to! Must check out the junk drawer! Do you have one of those, too? ;-) smiles...Susan

    1. Hi Jen, I agree. Rainbows never cease to amaze me. I still think about our trip to the Big Island where we saw huge colorful rainbows every day, sometimes two rainbows at the same time. It was magical! Christa

  5. Hi Christa,
Rainbows can bring such luck, magic and sunshine after a storm. I like the way you did yours. I remember hanging crystal balls on fishing line and it would twirl rainbows around the room. Yes, made me smile and it was a great post

    1. Hi Pamela, the walls in our breakfast room are "Gala Pink" and "Shagreen" to match the Dahlias in the curtain. So with the rainbow in the room this morning, it felt like spring. I am glad you liked the photos. Christa

  17. Hi Christa,
In a comment on my blog you asked about a blue glass vase/bowl. It is Swedish made by Bertil Vallien - who is still working. Made sometime in the 1960s or 1970s and my mother left it to me. Hope that helps.
