A Delightful Day in May

chilling by the pond

It was a perfect Sunday afternoon in May.  The sky was a baby blue color, the clouds filtered the sun rays slightly, and the breeze was blowing ever so lightly.  To top it of, it was about 60ish Fahrenheit.  A perfect spring day to chill by the pond.

Cedarmere Farm -- view of our pond and Flat Top mountain from our kitchen door

It was a perfect day to enjoy the outdoors with my parents, my husband Bob and two of our three children (our middle daughter Katy joined us for brunch at a nearby vineyard, but had to return to UVA -- for our friends in other countries, UVA stands for the University of Virginia).

Our visiting Canada geese have laid eggs on the island in the middle of the pond

Meanwhile, our flying friends are chilling in the garden.

The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (yellow) and Spicebush Swallowtail (black) butterflies
are slowing arriving for their annual visits

Our pink Azaleas bloomed prolifically this spring.

This American Robin is feasting happily

This Red-winged Blackbird is very territorial and is not afraid to chase much bigger birds away

American Goldfinches are at home at our farm

This post is dedicated to my parents
who travel over 9,000 miles at least once a year to visit us.
We love you.
